Holiday Safety for Your Pet

  1. What are your feelings on having two female litter mates in a home? Is it an old wives tale that two female litter mates can not stay together or is there empirical evidence to support this. I have two female dobermans, litter mates, one came home with us at 12 weeks, the other at about 5 months. Yes, we have drama and they will be 3 years old this month.

  2. Personally, I feel that as long as there is structure in the house, and each dog knows the basic house rules (is trained) then you should be fine. The biggest problem with raising two dogs from puppies is often that the dogs bond with each other more than any other dog or even with their owners. This creates a bit of under-socialization and often a resistance to learn or follow rules. What sorts of drama have you had?
